You’ve made the steps and reserved your spot in our Full-Service training program. Here is what you can expect throughout the process.

Preparing for Your Dog’s Drop-Off

First, Jordan will contact you a week before your drop-off date to arrange a time and ensure you have met both trainers at The Doghouse.

Upon arrival, make sure your dog has:

  • Plenty of food
  • Any approved toys that are safe in your dog’s kennel
  • If you want to bring a bed or pad that is washable, and again, the dog is not known to chew up or shred
  • If your dog will need their monthly meds while with us during training, please put them in a Ziploc bag with the administration date on it

Plan for about 20 minutes for the drop-off to exchange any last-minute information. Also, be prepared to lay out your calendar and tentatively put the three transition lessons on the books.

Your Dog’s First 24 Hours at The Dog House

The first 24 hours are an adjustment period for acclimating your dog. Your dog will learn the Kennel’s routine and interact with our small staff. Liz and Carrie will be the only trainers!

After 24 hours, expect a picture update on how your pet has settled in.

Progress Updates During Your Dog’s Training Program

You won’t be left wondering how your dog is doing during training. We make sure you stay informed every step of the way.

Here’s how we’ll keep you updated on your dog’s progress during their stay:

  • Liz or Carrie will send a picture and text update every three days throughout the program.
  • Two progression videos will also be sent to demonstrate your dog’s obedience.
  • The first is between days 10 and 12, and the second is between days 18 and 21.

Transition Lessons and Bringing Your Dog Home After Training

We usually start transition lessons around the second week, but you will already have those dates in your calendar from when you dropped off.

Here are the different ways we may schedule your dog’s transition lessons:

  • Your dog may go home on the second transition lesson or the third, depending on the circumstances.
  • In some cases, we want the dog to go home, and then a few days later, we have our last lesson.
  • In other cases, we wait until the third and final lesson when the dog goes home.

Support and Guidance After Dog Obedience Training

Expect a check-in from one of the trainers after your dog has been home for 24 hours.

We are here to:

  • Answer any transition questions that may come up before then
  • Send you a link to our FAQ YouTube page for any specific obedience or handling reminders

Monthly Group Classes for Ongoing Learning

After your dog has graduated and is home, start expecting emails from Jordan inviting you to three consecutive monthly group classes that we hold at the park. We always recommend coming so we can stay in communication and ensure you’re handling your dog according to the standard.
